Water Baby…Confirmed

Quick update: a few pictures and a video. At least bath-time isn’t a chore anymore.

We took a quick trip to the Montopolis Recreation Center before bed tonight to get some swing time. So much fun.

Crawling Practice

Our days are numbered. The little stinker is starting to get the idea into her head that she can be mobile, and it is only a matter of time now before she realizes that she can use her arms to really help the process along. Krista, the GC for our addition, likened her crawling to long-distance swimming. She makes a few strokes, comes up for air, then checks and corrects her course.

It is sort of mean, in a way, what we’re doing here. We find whatever is capturing her attention at the moment, and then move it to the other side of the blanket and tell her to go get it. She doesn’t seem to mind, and we find it funny as hell, so we’re going to keep right on doing it.

So we gave Winnie a lemon…

and she loved it. Didn’t bother her at all…I mean, maybe a tiny little bit, but not like the Youtube videos where kids react so strongly. Such a strange kid. Taking all the fun out of raising babies.

Big eyes, and big smiles. We finally spent the time to pick out a lot of the cradle cap on her scalp, and now her hair is sticking straight up. It is so cute it hurts.

Winnie at the Secret Beach

We took advantage of some stunningly beautiful March weather this past weekend and made our way to the Secret Beach at Roy G. Guerrero Park.  I’ll keep the narration to a minimum: The weather was beautiful.  Winnie played in the water.  She tried to put rocks in her mouth.

I think we have a water baby.  I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday morning.

Winnie Learns About Framing

The carpenters came today to start framing the addition (yup!  Emily’s project is getting built, and no you can’t see pictures until it is done-done), and Winnie got a chance to inspect their work.  She gave everybody an A+.

We seized the opportunity to test Winnie’s hearing protection.  These baby ear muffs are awesome.  She didn’t object to having them on at all.  Depending on how we’re feeling in the next few weeks, we may have a SXSW post: baby version coming.  Exciting!
